Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Yancey County Criminal History. Using the site means that you accept them. If you disagree with any condition, do not continue using the service.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a government body. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act purposes. The resource points to Yancey County, North Carolina record channels. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve files, perform official checks, or submit documents for visitors.

Its role is to identify the custodians of Yancey County records, including the Sheriff, the courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you must not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or data
  • Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate another person
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
  • Violate federal, North Carolina, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone. North Carolina registry information exists for community safety, not vigilantism or retaliation. The North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry warns that criminal misuse of its information can be prosecuted.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners are not offered here as services for FCRA-regulated decisions. Data from this site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Set insurance eligibility or premiums
  • Evaluate creditworthiness
  • Make employment decisions
  • Screen renters or housing applicants
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must come from the proper official channel or a screening company that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General explanations of Yancey County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expunction law applies to a person. Seek advice from a North Carolina attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • Partner results are accurate or complete
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • Every page is free from bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • Published information is always complete, accurate, and current

Charges, dismissals, restrictions, and expunctions can change a record. Gaps and delays are unavoidable, and nothing published here is an official statement by a court, sheriff, or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, court portals, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. A destination controls its own content, data practices, charges, and availability. We are not responsible for those matters. Review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Yancey County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used for derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from use of this site, its content, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms, including the state's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, and G.S. 132-1.4 where public criminal-record access is discussed. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a North Carolina court.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or end access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain effective. The affected language is modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions
